Maker Story
My name is Dongmei Huang, I am 46 years old, I have been working with the company for 15 years. I have found well paying, consistent and satisfying work through this job.
I live in Nanping County with my family and my hobbies are singing, and Traveling.
I’m part of the team who made the bamboo spork and the cutlery. My job is to cut the bamboo to the right proportions of the spork and cutlery. I hope you enjoy my work and enjoy using the products when you eat.
The production facility is based in Fujian province in China.
The minimum wage of this province is 1,380 RMB per month, but the artisans are paid nearly double the minimum wage at 2,550 RMB per month. The youngest person to work there is of the age of 22.
Makers work 40 hours a week, 5 days a week. They take all public holidays off.
The artisans are provided with pension and unemployment insurance. As well as with medical, maternity and accident insurance.
The bamboo cutlery pouvhes are shipped via sea freight to minimise the carbon footprint of each product. We offset our carbon emissions and more by planting a tree for every item we sell.
The product does not have any animal derivatives. 100% Vegan and plastic-free.
